History of AlphaBase Despite occasionally referring to AlphaBase in third-person, and some inadvertent use of plural pronouns, AlphaBase is singularly me: Bill Glass. Hi... very nice meeting you here! I've been in or near the graphic design industry, my entire life. Honing my craft since the pre-digital days of X-acto knives and rub-on letters, I've managed to keep my customers sufficiently pleased since I started AlphaBase in the Fall of 1992. I'm a passionate computer nerd ... I dream in Photoshop ... the Internet is my world. I'm blessed (cursed?) with a prodigious command of the English language, and I fancy myself a fairly capable composer of attention-grabbing advertising copy and witty prose. Also, I'm pleased to report that the mixed miracle of digital cameras and Adobe Photoshop have helped make me into a fairly decent photographer. Raised by parents for whom there was no greater sin than misspelling a word or using improper grammar, I began typesetting in the late Sixties, and I've spent 40 years perfecting my skills at typography, graphic design and layout. (I can recognize several hundred different typefaces, on sight!) I now find myself in the somewhat enviable position where (a) I'm old enough to remember what typography and graphic design USED to be like, with its artistic integrity and its attention to detail; (b) I've kept up with technology with a truly zealous obsession; and (c) I'm not dead yet. I've been a member of Mensa, a 1975 graduate of the "Standard est Training," and I was the 1962 Duncan Yo-Yo Champion Since the day AlphaBase opened, I've remained a proud member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce — they've provided dependable resources to help my business grow, and they continue to be among AlphaBase's most loyal clients. If you're a KC-area business and you're NOT a member of The Chamber, I encourage you to join today ... just click HERE. To the best of my ability, I've remained committed to the AlphaBase Mission Statement: "Provide quality graphic design and precise typography, on schedule, for nice people, at a reasonable price, and still watch Jeopardy every afternoon." Working from home has its perks...
"Conscious by ten, coherent by eleven, congenial by noon!" |
